Well Visit – 6-9 years

Well Visit Preparation

Please take a few minutes to complete and consider the following, which will help you optimize your time in our office.

  • How is your child eating? Is your child eating the rainbow of veggies and fruit each week – at least 5 servings daily? What protein sources do you offer your child (meat, dairy, plant based)?
  • How is your child progressing in school? Any academic issues? Any social issues?  Any difficulty making or keeping friends?  Any bullying issues?

  • How is your child sleeping?  Any snoring? Any pauses in breathing at night?  Waking refreshed?

  • Is your child having regular bowel movements?  Does your child experience any discomfort with urnation or have any change in urinary pattern?

Vaccines Typically Administered and Procedures

If your child is up to date on vaccines, there are no vaccines due at this visit.

Your child may receive the influenza vaccine annually, generally October is the best month to receive the vaccine.

We do a urine screen every year at this age.  This test is in part a screen for type 1 diabetes, as well as other issues.  Encourage your child to drink well the days prior to the visit to reduce “false positives” and the need to repeat the urine.

We do a hemoglobin via finger prick every 2 years whenever possible.  This helps us screen for anemia, including iron deficiency anemia.
